My dealer did the "0903" install this morning. Made it a point to talk to the techs who have a feel for tweaks and tunes. They liked the specs of the flash change, and thought there should be noticeable improvements.
I only did about 20 miles after the install so there's not much cred to my first impressions, and it was freekin cold... but she seemed smoother through the lower gears in town and seemed to accelerate a bit better when laying on the throttle from a stop on more open road. My bike has been a no problem bike. Intent has been to get a tune package a bit down the road, just to get more out of her for what I feel is the potential in there.
When it warms up again next week, I hope to be able to tell a little better.
It was 16F this morning, so can't tell for sure. I wish you Texicans had this 16 degrees and I had yours the next few days, dammit!!!

I had the ECM flash done today on my RoadGlide. It runs incredible now. Has twice as much horse power and three times the torque. It completely changed my bike. Even the paint shines brighter now. The new flash really changed things; my love life is improved. I have more friends now. The new flash even got me a raise at work and then bought me lunch.
Really, I did get the new flash today, although I didn't notice too much of a change. Maybe... when coming to a stop and bringing the RPM's down, there is slightly less of a surge right before the motor approaches idle. Also it seemed slightly more difficult to get the motor to ping and knock if I lugged the motor. I didn't have much pinging in the sub 1.5k or 2k RPM range to begin with, but then the outside temp never made it above 40 degrees for the 100 or so miles I was out today so it's also difficult for me to say if there's any less heat. I did about 50 or 60 miles before the flash and about the same after and like I said, didn't notice much of a difference.
Oh yeah, the new flash also paid me $50 today...

I had mine, an '07 Heritage, done today. Rode home about 120 miles on twisties and some superslab. I noticed less down shifts in the mountains; just roll the sucker on. Not much of a difference around town or on the superslab. Most definately a smoother torque curve in the twisties where you need it.

As I was heading to the dealer today, I almost turned around. I thought my bike runs great, I should pass on this since I have retuned it already why mess with a good thing? But I thought what if it does help? So here it is, for those with PCIII's don't wait head to your nearest dealer for the reflash of the ecm, had mine done this morning, they do it thru a access port and no need to unplug the pcIII, My dealer had no problem with me having upgraded, I simpy told them how it was; I put near 20 k in your pocket for this bike and wanted it to run right, I know its not your fault about the epa, so I fixed it with a pcIII and muffs and a air cleaner. Do we have a problem? No Sir was the answer let us get it in there and do the reflash! They said you may have to readjust your pcIII, I said thats fine. Well the tech did it, then took it for a spin, I could tell by the sound of the motor as he passed me it was running much smoother, as the young guy wheeled back into the parking lot after a 5min. ride he had a huge grin on. I asked did it run good? He smiled and said, Oh Yea! I left, heres my view: Runs much smoother, it always felt a little rough starting off till you got to about 2000 rpm, now it pulled off like butter, pulled hard thru the gears, had more roll on power in all gears. At idle the motor doesn't shake near as much as it did. I could find nothing adverse about it, it worked with my fuelmoto tuned pc III perfectly, I only rode about 30 miles but in traffic, around town and on the interstate up to 100 and it was awesome. Im very pleased with this upgrade and recomend everyone who is due this reflash do it regardless if your bike is stock or retuned with a pcIII or other device, it appears to be more of revamp to the timing settings than air/fuel changes. It made my bike much more of a joy to ride, will update again once ive done some more miles and checked plugs for color.

This is an older posting from the Consumer Affairs website, but thought it might be a timely reminder to anyone out there experiencing the false neutral issue on an '06 Dyna that maybe hadn't heard of this recall.....
Harley-Davidson Recalls Dyna Bikes

Harley-Davidson is voluntarily recalling 13,400 Dyna series motorcycles because of a faulty transmission indicator.
The 2006 model year Dyna cycles have transmissions with a defect that may allow them to go into a false neutral position, even though the neutral indicator light is illuminated.
The motorcycle manufacturer said that it is providing owners with free pick-up and delivery as part of the Initial Care Program being rolled out for the 2006 Dyna motorcycles. The service will commence and recall kits will be available at dealerships beginning the week of Dec. 12.
Harley-Davidson estimates that the total costs to the company for the recall will be less than $5 million.
Harley-Davidson also said that it expects to meet its previously announced wholesale shipment target of 329,000 units for 2005.

Test ride, test ride, test ride.....with a half-helmet so you can hear the tranny. Pay particular attention to what you hear in first, ESPECIALLY fifth, and sixth. Those are the gears I get clatter in on my new RKC. Remember, good pipes, air cleaner and a race tuner or PCIII will go a long ways on the surging, heating problems and performance, but the tranny is what you need to listen to before you buy. If I had, and had picked up on the problems I'm having now, I might have thought twice about getting a new RKC.

My dealer told me today the download ain't worth squat. It just stops the rear cylinder from firing every 8 strokes or so when hot. Sounds like he was talking about the "parade download". Who knows?!
