I'm ex-military - it's been a family thing. I'd be honoured to ride with the Patriot Guard. It's probably the highest form of respect I could show for our fallen heroes. Whether they get thanked or not for it, every one of those guys will get their reward in heaven. Good karma to all of them. I don't know if we have anything like that in Canada, other than independently-organized rides for such events.

To all the people who said anything along the lines of wanting to join or ride with PGR, it's as simple as showing up for a ride and/or signing up to become a member.

There is another similar group which may or may not be in your area. Warriors Watch Riders (WWR)

Johnny Cannon,

We have an area on the PGR National Forums where information for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice fram Canada are listed. It doesn't take much to become a PGR member, just sign up on the website.

Respects,
Ed

I signed up last month but I have not participated in a mission yet. Most are on the west side and the mountain passes are not a place to be on a bike this time of year.

Your family or someone close to you, all they need to do is ask a PGR rider and that rider will pass information to the state ride captain. Then your family will have your escort.

i know the feeling, its a shame we dotn have a PGR type group up here i think the families would appreciate somethign like that.
i know we just attended the service of a man who i knew as a child and had served with my mother until she got out on medical last year * she put in 30 years* i was amazed at the turn out though, over 3000 showed up for the service.

Midnitevil,

Don't know where you get the idea PGR only does funerals in IL. I have been on many welcome home and send off missions all over Illinois. They are very active in the Chicago area, and also downstate. Not taking anything away from WWR (is that Warriors Watch Riders?) but PGR is about all types of missions: funeral missions, welcome home, and send-off's.

I haven't really studied if there is anything going on between WWR and PGR, but it seems that the mission of both is respect for our troops and vets. Seems like there should be room for both. I would guess that you have a strong WWR unit that you ride with and they do good work, and thus you don't see so much PGR, because I suspect they both don't do the same rides.

I haven't heard of any WWR missions in Illinois myself, but that doesn't mean they don't happen...a lot, just means I don't participate in that group, although I am sure I would be honored to do so.

Don
