Id guesstimate it to be somewhere around 600-700 entries so far. I aint never been one to be good at guessing though, lol.
If you count the actual individual names posting here, and on the Hoka Hey Yahoo Group, and on the Hoka Hey Blog, I think your count will be well under 50 including the Hoka Hey organizers. Let's assume that 80% of the registered participants never join or post anything anywhere. From the previous assumption, I project a maximum of 250 entrants to date.

I am going to enter this event because I think I can be a top 10 finisher based on my competitive LD rally track record and my experience as a rallymaster. I hope the $500,000 is real, but even if it is not, the Challenge is more than worth the cost of admission.

Seems the interest has waned a little, so who is up for the challenge?

I put my Scooter in the shop a week and a half ago before I went in for my knee surgery. I thought since I can't ride it for a few weeks might as well get some of the work done I want to do in prep for the challenge!
Having the later model cam chain tensioners and oil pump put in along with mild Andrews cams, getting the belt drive converted over to a chain drive, and decided to replace my Sampson fish tails with a 2into1 Thunderheader (not really necessary, just wanted something different).
I'm as stoked as I've ever been and counting the days till we get to show the rest of the world what we are made of.

The area I live in has about 100,000 people total. I have found no one that was aware of the Challenge prior to my telling them about it up until a couple of weeks ago. That person told me they saw something about it in a magazine. I also travel all over the U.S. and Canada for my job and speak with many bikers. I have only come across a couple that were aware this is going on.

I have had some copies of the flier that came with my welcome packet made and have started going to various businesses that cater to or are frequented by Harley riders and asking them to post it on their wall/bulletin boards.

I feel once they start the heavy marketing campaign ie: T.V. spots and magazine spots that the slots will fill fairly quickly.

Ya need to remember that we have become a society of gimme gimme gimme and not to many people are willing to work for something much less have to pay to do it. I think that has been evidenced right here in some of the postings in this thread. Things like "how will we take a shower", or "it's hard to read a map while I'm riding". OH....Cry me a river!

I started a group here on the Forum a while back for the Challenge. Could use some Challengers that are willing to post a little.......https://www.hdforums.com/forum/group...-hoka-hey.html

I would have entered into the race but they do not allow Victory's because they wanted to keep it fair!!

My Victory would have won hands down!!

Seriously though they excluded Victory's from runnign the race but all others are allowed....In the interest of keeping it fair!

Joe,

I have been participating in competitive long distance rallies for the past 4 years and I can tell you that it is the rider; not the bike that wins.

Unless it is an event like White Pine Fever http://phil.micapeak.com/wpf/index.html
where you need a 150 mph bike and aux. fuel cell, a Harley can compete on a level playing field.
