I have a 90 and love the bike. I did a K&N hypercharger and a 2:1 Basani exhaust setup. With a little rejetting it runs great. Gets about 42 mpg regardless of conditions. PLenty of power, a little wobbly in a corner going fast, but generally a great ride. Lots of stuff you can do to personalize it.

I'm not sure what seat you'll find on it, but I took mine off recently and scalloped out about 3" of pad right where my butt sits. I then went on a 3700 mile trip and never really got sore. Made all the difference.

Hope you get it and join us regularly on the Evo board! Doubt you'll be disappointed.

I cured those wobbles with a True-Track Trackula kit. Done around 8k miles on it so far - there is no going back!

+1 on your message to KingLBC.

Put a deposit down today and will pick it up in a week. The tranny rebuild was because the guy wanted to put an Andrews gear in, and I guess he was really **** about preventative maintenance, which is good. Thanks for all of the input!

Good point about shovel guys thinking you had to refresh the top end frequently. If the guy was a little **** about preventative maintenance, that's not a bad thing.
Sounds like the bike will be good. Hope you enjoy many miles with it.

I think you will have a great bagger. Although prices have really dropped for Evos, it will not be lower than that, unless it's got some problems or needs refresh. Maintenance will be easier on the Evo. Insurance cheaper. And looking from far away for the average citizen, the FLHs have not changed too much. Only thing I would offer is to put a Keihin CV carb on it and throw away the original Keihin carb. I bet the ignition was probably upgraded to Screaming Eagle, if the PO wanted Andrews gear in the tranny. Good luck and good riding.

I just bought my 96 for a good enough price and ended up putting another 1,500 into it. But it is all new now and ready for 50,000+ more miles. Just put 350 effortless miles on today. I think you will be happy with your choice. Enjoy! (I just came off a ZG-1200 Voyager, interesting the comparo between the 2. I will REALLY miss the 6 gallon tank and better mileage of the Kaw. Other things would be worth their own post.)

So I picked up the bike on Friday, and have been riding it all day. It runs great! The only concern I have is that when I went out to the garage this evening I saw a small oil spot under the crankcase, about half of the size of a drink coaster. How concerned should I be here? Thanks for all of the help and here is a picture:
