once you had the efi on a dyno with a good tuner there is no comparsion to a carb. efi can be tuned much closer and with you having access to one on the best tuners on the east coast right in bethlam PA for a few bucks and the price of a tuner the bike will be tuned excellant.
it will run you about 1500-2 grand to do the conversion and your resale price of your bike is wortthless due to the fact the it is altered.
now for a price of a TTS and a good tuner its less then half of that .
EFI car be tuned far superior then any carb bike also efi you can tune each cylinder timing , everything . with a carb bike only three circuits can be tuned.
have to purchase an after market ing module to tune timing .
most people who think they are tuning their carb bike is by seat of the pants. they have no idea what their afr are and have no idea what the timing is. .
put the bike on a dyno and get it tuned. efi will spank a carb bike with the same build.

Speaking of BDL ignition for the twin cam that uses a rotor cup. one is used on a bike in the Oct/Nov issue of Barnett's Mag. Pg. 41-45 it fires on a Dyna 2000i

Why couldn't he keep the parts and put them back on if he was to sell it? When I did my stage 1 it cost me a whole lot less becuse it was a carbed bike. Jets, Big Sucker and pipes. No new mangement system plus a down load plus dyno tune. Don't care about having a piece of paper with the HP or TQ #'s on it to show every one. The way it starts and runs is all I worry about. And OH yeah if you want a real fuel injection system you need a manual pump drive and just change injector size and pills till you get it right. (and by the way been drag racing for over 25 years and a time slip and a look at the plugs is the only dyno I need)

It isn't the carb that dictates the sound the cam and timing have more to do with the sound (excluding th exhaust ).

two words, "gear reduction ", besides, I don't think the compression on a stock twin cam is that high.

Default That's what I'm saying carbs are cost efficient because I don't need MR harley

Carbed bikes are easily modified with only a jet or needle change. You can get all the stuff you need and change back from a $10.00. Efi requires a fuel management system and usually a dyno tune to get them to run even marginally well. We all know the epa has the efi running dangerouslyly lean from the factory. Change cams, big bore etc, back to the dyno again. With a carb a simple jet change usually has it running well. Cold weather starts are easy, pull out the choke give it a couple of squirts, hit the button and it's running. Yeah you can ride right off on the efi bike before the oil has circulated but is that a benefit? The carbed bike will pull away nicely after a couple of minutes in real cold weather too but the oil will have circulated to the point it's safe to ride. Ride what you like, i have both a carbed ''02 fatboy with a pretty hot 95" and an '07 streetglide with efi 103 and a race tuner. I trust my carbed bike and don't see any advantage to efi.
carbs rule cant tune a efi unless you have major equiptment while i just use the seat of my pants as my dyno

I currently have my first carbureted bike. All I've owned in the past is efi. Iron efi ad street bob 96" efi.I love the potato potato sound of the carb. In my opinion I feel a lot more and instant power with the carb. It kinda sucks having to warm up In the mornings but I love it.
