Default Just Tried to Buy a 2010 Street Glide

I walked into East Coast HD (North VA) with a pre-approved check from my bank and my 2007 RK Custom in tow. We haggled over the Custom's trade in from $10K to $11K.

They would not come down of MSRP, also they would not offer anything off on the accessories. So I walked out.

The delaer is full of new 2010s and 2009s, but they don't want to deal. Things must be going very good to pass up a sure sell.

Oh well, I'll try Patriot HD tomorrow.

there are plenty of dealers willing to sell a bike- while you may not necessarily get under MSRP, you can surely get a better deal on accessories and perhaps even the trade.

Good luck with the purchase and dont get hung up on thinking u need to get the same deal as some people on here who talk about practically getting the bike for free. Its is very different region by region. I have about 5 dealers within my typical commute and the only difference in price was a few willing to work on the f&s fee's. Ended up just buying from the dealer that had the all around best staff. When I bought my second bike from them a few months later, they were more willing to negotiate.

I bought my present bike at Patriot HD, so maybe Ill do better there. At least Patriot gives you 10% on the accessories when you buy.

It just dosen't seem like anyone is on a hurry to sell a bike these days.

I disagree. If it were me, I'd shop on-line (like Chicago HD), and get up to 2 G's under sticker plus no freight or set-up which is another 5-6 hundred. Granted it's a little more complicated since he's got a bike to trade in, so it may not work for him. I sold my last bike outright on Craig's list, only lost 2K on it after driving it for 3 years, then shopped and shopped and shopped until I got the best deal (which was the one I just explained above), and saved almost 3 grand doing it. If he's willing to travel he can save himself a considerable amount of money. I just don't know if it's worth doing all that to the OP or not. It was to me though.

meant to say earlier, leave the 10% off the deal and get something better that you might want. if you want a discount on accessories, there are plenty of 20% off HD dealers online with free shipping. get them to throw in a manual instead.

again, good luck, we all love new bikes!!

The discount is not the issue, its the attitude. Sales are way down and they are still acting like it is 1992!

I agree with you wholeheartedly on that one. I can't tell you how many dealerships I've walked into when looking for my bikes only to not have a salesperson even look at me a second time (Ukes in Kenosha being one of them). The good part about that is, that's one *or two or three or four) good commissions those idiots missed out on!!!

Don't forget Whitt's. Think we are going to do a ride that way tomorrow and perhaps swing by Patriot.
