Is there such a thing as 97 octane gasoline anymore?
Picked up a new-to-me Softail this week () and the seller said it runs best with the 97 octane/no ethanol gas, which he went on to point out, it's hard to find. Well, I've made a point to see if my usual gas stations have it (Shell, Exxon, Chevron and the like) and none do.
Both cages take Premium as well, so I've never been one to use RaceTrac, Citgo and the like. I was under the impression, I was buying "better" gas. Hmmmm...am beginning to wonder if that's the best I can do.
Does anyone know if they still offer 97 octane anywhere?
If you live near a drag strip you'll find a station near by that'll have a VP race fuel pump. Other than there, I've never seen anything more than 93 octane.
As stated, find a drag strip or race track if you think you need it. I cant imagine you needing that much octane unless you have some radical mods and high compression. What are your mods by the way?
One of our local 76 stations use to carry 97 or 98 octane fuel for the guys that were going to the desert with high perf buggys and bikes but they stopped offering it a couple years ago. VP race fuel is still around and some guys head to small local airports and get av gas which is over 100 octane.
i know where to get 110 octane locally here, but at the pump you get, 87/89/91. i also have a decent suource of jet fuel too but i dont think my bike would liek that too much lol

You think your bike wouldn't like jet fuel? I don't know of any bike that would like to run on kerosene. Except maybe jet bikes like Leno has.

Chevron here in BC always has a 4th pump with 94. Strangely, it is apparently made at a refinery in Washington but I have never seen it south of the border.
