Okay, I had to make an emergency run to Texas, got back last night and this morning drained most of the oil from the tank, never could see the vent line internal to the tank, as it is too far forward from the fill tube where I was looking in.
I'm not sure what the capacity of the oil tank is, but I drained most of it and then ended up adding one fresh quart to get to about 3/4 full or about one inch below the weld, after a couple of cold to warm cycles and checked while level and warm.
I was kind of surprised how dark the drained oil was after only thirty miles or so since fresh. I'm running the six dollar a quart Harley Davidson 20-50 regular non synthetic as that is what has always been in it.
