This is very timely. I have noticed that my front end has a whine that has been getting louder for the 3000 miles (very loud at 70mph). I have been blaming the bearings, but this makes more sense because I have also notice the center of my front tires seems to have unusual wear.

Thanks

Beary

I want to thank all of you for bringing this to my attention because at 5500 miles i was not looking at my front tire very hard and the vibration came on slow so i did not notice it until i read your posts. My dealer replaced the front tire with a 408 and as luck would have it i had to buy a new rear tire because of a big nail being stuck in it. Oh well 5500 miles and two new tires. No one ever said owning a Harley was cheap.

I wouldn't get alll that excited about this service bulletin as it really didn't change anything...the dealer is under no obligation to automatically replace anything since this is not a recall. I just got told by the dealer my tire (based on them doing a quick test ride) didn't meet the noise/vibration/ride quality because the technician said the noise and the vibration was coming from the rear tire and the roar of the drive belt....imagine that....

just a little more ammo for me...hell 3 times they said my tire had plenty of tread. but when i measured it with him standing there he said i was measuring in the wrong spot... his quote was this " you should measure you tire on the side of it no in the middle" thats when i left ..

Go to another dealer. Call HD yourself. State you have a vibration in the front of the bike...

Get "excited" and maybe you'll have a new tire.

Thanks so much for the update and letter about the front tire on the 09 touring models. I had called the MOCO and received a claim number and went to my local dealer and they said it was normal with 7000 miles again went at 8700 miles and complained and again they said there were no issues or problems. Finally went to a different dealer at 12000 miles and just put both a front and back tire on as the bike rode horrible and both tires were extremely cupped but had a lot of thread left. So I paid for tire replacement after calling four dealers and no one would do anything they just said that was too many miles. The tires had a ton of thread let they were just cupped so bad it rode like a jeep with mudders. Now I will try to have to get a claim paid after the fact so hopefully there will be a record at the MOCO of my call becuase I do not remember my claim number. Thanks again and hope I can get a credit!
You should be able to get the moco to reimburse you. I couldn't get the Dealer I bought my bike from to do anything, but lucky for me I have another Dealer not too far from where I live that changed both the front and back for me under warranty. My bike had almost 12K on it. He even told me about the jiffy stand recall and changed it too. It's hard to believe Dealers are so different in there service. I spoke with a lady name Roxanne when I called the moco. She was really nice. They should be able to lookup your claim number. Good Luck!
