883 to 1200 Problems
Prodrag is correct about the compession with 1200 parts and 883 heads.
Does the piston seem to stick or does it feel like it's hitting something. Helped a friend figure out why he couldn't roll his engine over to put the top end together, he had cylinders bored and Wiesco dished pistons with stock 883 heads. Turned out he put in 883 head gaskets vs 1200. Not saying something this silly has happened, but it is a possibility.

I could open a Harley parts store, last thing I need is more parts / accessories, the help sure is appreciated....

In addition to the information ya'll provided on this subject is it possible that the pistons being installed backwards might cause the problem, the binding or stopping of the piston at TDC? I went to amazon.com & bought HARLEY-DAVIDSON Sportster Performance Handbook 3rd edition by Buzz Buzzelli, great book...

Yes, but you can also wonder as far as.....Did anything fall into the crank case?
Take a picture of the top end without the heads on and post it.
