The local Chapter Members here get a 10% discount with their yearly Local Membership. Just remember that you have to be a National Member to belong to the Local Chapter.
Why would there be any difference in the discount that Harley gives with any other store? Most places will not let you use multiple discounts or coupons on an item. No difference in the Dealerships
You did not state whether the 10% Discounts that you were seeing were limited? Sometime it is just on regular priced merchandise? Or you can not use if for Tires and Service, or can not use it on special order merchandise. The HOG 10% can be used on anything. This is the difference

When I bought my first Harley, I received a complimentary membership to HOG. One of the benefits is 10% off parts, accessories and clothing at HD stores. Of course I renew every year.
Lately I have been seeing ads for various dealers offering 10% off .....
One day it would be T-Shirts
anything Chrome.
Helmets
Leather
or whatever.
So I go to get my 10% off and then show them my HOG card for an additional 10% off and they tell me "No, only one discount."

Anyway, don't worry about your 10%. Many HD dealers and Mom and Pop shops sell HD accessories and apparel with 20% off on the web. HD of Chicago, Lake Shore HD, Zanotti, MandM to name just a few.

Some give it some don't.. Our purchasing dealer gives anyone buying there a lifetime 15% with local and national hog card, up front only, no labor discount.
another north of home gives us 10% and one east of us just quit giving any discount when the new owner took over this yr..
