Ditto - could care less. Way better than my Dodge Hemi, I can tell you that. I'm guessing I'm getting a bit better than you are as I usually fill up after 140 to 150 miles and rarely need more than half a tank out of a 5.1 gallon tank.
My 06 Bob doesnt do that good here in Korea. But I have to agree with 2 earlier post... beats the crap out of my wifes Dodge Hemi and my Jeep wrangler.
It can be well over 100 miles between gas stations in some of the areas I ride so
I do pay attention to mileage as it affects planning my safe range.
I generally get about 43-45 at 70mph cruise with a windshield, about 40 if I'm
riding on secondary roads and maybe as low as 35 on steep, high altitude
mountain roads that require a lot of on-and-off throttle in lower gears.
My bike has never been BELOW 5,000 and occasionally up to just under 12,000
and I have no way of knowing what for sure what effect that has but since
I never see any evidence of running rich I would suspect that the EFI leans out
the mixture to match the lower air density and I may be getting slightly better
mileage because of that (as well as higher valve temps.. nothing is ever free...)
Stock 2009 FXDC. Averages 42 MPG. Recently took a 1,300 mile trip from my home in Tidewater, VA to Asheville, NC. Rode the Tail of the Dragon and returned home on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Two days of the five-day trip were spent on the Interstate in 6th gear. Averaged 48 MPG on that trip.
