Seems like the deciding factor is 2 up vs solo. Solo, just get on your bike and ride and quit whinning. With passenger, different story. Presumably you want your passenger to be happy. I would take my Deuce anywhere solo. Passenger? Not so much fun.
Hey JOHD. The horn I found on ridesafer.com it's loud people hear it. The luggage rack is HD for an Ultra trunk. I used some thin walled tubing to make the rack that the luggage rack is bolted to. I am not a welder, and don't have a little buzz box welder so I spent alot of time grinding and filing to make the joints look acceptable I used some aluminum plate to make the support for the trunk, with some ears sticking with holes in them to mount the luggage rack. I also made a smaller one to support the trunk with no ears if I'm not using the luggage rack. The item on my handle bar is a speaker. I have a set of speakers on the handle bars and also a set on the engine guards. The set on the handle bears were ordered as a stereo set up, the engine guard ones I got some light housings and put speakers in them. I have sirius radio hooked up to them, we have some nice sound that you can hear at any speed. It's fun to see what you can come up with for your bike, and they make the rides more enjoyable
I too made the mistake of going from a Heritage to a Road King. Seat height,
handlebars, wobbly engine, shaking and shiverin' all over, hard to turn
around, not as good a ride as my 02 or my 06 FLSTC.
The first time my wife got on the RK shesaid, "What is wrong with this thing"???
"How can you stand to ride that shakey, wobbly thing"?? I did manage to ride
it 7500 miles before I traded it for a new 08 Heritage. Now, I have an 09.
I'mtrying to make my Deluxe tourable. Working on the suspension now. Trying to decide between 422s and Legend L3
Kart racer,
Bike looks good and welcome to the forum... do not be afraid to start your own thread and introduce yourself... in other words no reason to hijack a thread that is almost a month old...
Why can't you tour on a Deluxe? My wife and I do it all the time. I only added the touring pillion and backrest. Travel luggage that fits on the luggage rack and nostalgic hard bags. What else do you need? We cruise 70-75mph no problem. It ain't like you're sacrificing or anything, Come on guys! I agree the "touring bike" thing is way overrated. I test drove the RKC, hated everything about it!
