Has anyone seen a persistent very slow leak of fluid out of the tranny down the clutch cable. I have an 05 Road King. I notice everytime I clean it the cable running along the bottom of the frame is always wet with fluid. Doesn't leak enough to drip on the floor though. Fluid level looks fine and toward the low notch not full notch, but not always easy to check with limited tollerance on the stick.
Thanks

just about every Harley I have seen leaks there if it's ridden at all.
Two things to check.....the first and common one is to check the vent tube on top of the transmission top cover. If it is blocked, it can cause fluid to be pushed out through the cable. Another thing to check as stated, is the o-ring where the cable enters the transmission side cover.
It is possible for the o-ring to be fine but, the cable came a little lose from the trans cover. If so, create slack in your cable. Disconnect from your clutch perch and lightly torque to 36-50 inch lbs Also you might want to check the trans side cover allen bolts like the ones clamping your right side intermediate exhaust section. Just a suggestion...
my 98 king does the same j.thats why i have a can of break clean handy when it gets a little to messy for my liking.its one of those good harley traits.take care.
Thanks guys I'll check it all out. I have also heard that this is common ridden alot. Just one of those nuisence things.
They shouldn't leak from there. The causes are covered in the previous posts, with the exception of the possibility of a mud dobber plugged up the vent hose, in which case the cable housing becomes the vent and forces fluid up higher than normal. Heard cases of oil actually dripping from the adjuster on the left down tube and back down to the trans.
