VERY easy install compared to any that incorporate a cover, plus very easy to service. PLUS there is NO WAY to suck a mounting screw into the intake if it works loose like OEM or K&N 3909
You will discover MANY owners of the Big Sucker experienced cracked backing plates, whereas no one has managed to break the Heavy Breather backing plate because it simply fits better.
It really boils down to a matter to looks because you can't beat it in any other catagory. Buy it from Zanotti's for 260 vs 300 dealer.
Finally installed one on my 09 SG this weekend. Easy install. Fit and finish is outstanding. I can already see the PCV w/AT adding a bit of fuel in the auto tune trim tables...which means I must be flowing more air. I can feel more power. I'm very happy with it so far....
BUT....read the install instructions carefully. I had a stage 1 A/C installed since I bought the bike. The stock breather bolts are swapped out for different ones when the stage 1 kit goes on. The Heavy Breather requires the stock breather bolts to be reinstalled. If not, the oil pressure will sky rocket. I missed that and installed the stage 1 breather bolts. 5 miles down the road I noticed oil pressure was 60 at 2500 RPM. I backed off and turned around. Thank God the dealer was only 7 miles in the other direction. They didn't have the stock breather bolts in stock...but they checked with service and I got some old take offs for free. Installed those and oil pressure went back to normal. Other than my mistake...I'm very impressed with the kit so far.
