I have very little doubt that outsourcing mean's either Japan or China.. which leads me to my next question.. what exactly qualifies small parts.. does that mean fenders? gas tanks? or does it mean really small parts like fender skirts, mounts and brackets and such..
Bottom line is I'd love to see the plant stay in York.. so I guess alittle good news is better than no news.. like alot of other things, time will tell..

I do feel sorry for all those who may be losing their jobs in York, but if a plant does come to Indiana, well since I live here....if anyone from York is allowed to relocate, Indiana is a fine state.
As for outsourcing I look at it like this. I am already paying a premimun for buying a bike made in the USA by USA workers. If they import more from the globe well they will just become another assembled in the USA product. That would be a sad day.
I would love to see their bottom line and how much profit they make per bike.

Under the plan, certain core operations would remain in place: the assembly of motorcycles, metal fabrication, and painting. Other work, such as chrome-plating, small-part stamping, and some sub-assembly jobs would be outsourced.
But i also understand what Silver slider is saying what would make a harley special if basically the only part on it make here is the motor frame and tank and everything else is made overseas. and what of the quality of the harley of the future if all those parts are made overseas.
Granted harley fork sliders have been chromed and sent over from Japan since long ago.

The way i read this and i have been to the plant, they will still stamp out fenders and tanks and paint them there sounds like what they are wanting to do is get all the small stuff outsourced little parts and chrome parts. Chrome plating is expensive and epa cost as well for chemicals and disposal etc.
