Dyno numbers on 2008 bagger with 110" motor are big improvement over stock pipes and a substantial improvement over tue duals. Make of 2 into 1 is supertrapp.
When I redid my 1997 FLHR I added Hooker 2-1s. Great performance, except that there was a 2" gap between the chrome heat guards and the muffler where the pipes joined. As I rode the pipes slowly discolored, until it looked $hitty: nice chrome and this ugly brown/blue section. It later developed a small leak at the collector, and when I pulled the pipes to weld it, the entire section snapped. Hooker was of no help at all. Pure crap!!!
I replaced them with Cobras and the dyno numbers didn't change. They sound better, too.
ThunderHeader is the way to go.....The price tag is steep and so are the improvements!!! Just for kicks, look at E-bay to find a used Thunderheader...You may save $200!!!!
Thunderheader does give good performance and sound, but look kind of crappy after a while. If it's power, sound and quality you're after, I'd go with the D&D Fatcat. In fact, I did, two years ago, and have been happy with my decision ever since.
during my pipe research it seems like different parts of the country are prone to use different systems....around my area mostly V&H's are used and mostly BSL's
seems south and west parts use a lot of D&D's. That was the pipe I thought about, but never seen anyone with them here to hear the sound of them......
as far as looks the D&D's where my 1st pick but now a neighbor down the street got a set of pythons this spring. they look very close to the D&D's and have a pretty good sound..
I don't know the price of them new, he got them off ebay and said the got a good deal.
I didn't ask and he didn't say what he paid for them...I don't know how they perform nor have I ever seen a dyno sheet on them...
I do know the D&D's are some of the best for tq and hp...
ThunderHeaders and supper traps are also good performing, but I just don't care for the looks. Just my taste...
in all the articles I've read those three are usually the top three. Then RH's or V&H's take 4&5 in performance.
do some searching and try to find someone with them on so U can hear them. then u'll know what U like....
