Primary Oil Drain Screw in too far...

Primary Oil Drain Screw in too far...
So I was changing my fluids... put my Primary Oil Drain 40t plug back in with the "Fancy" new floss type tape instead of Teflon Tape... well the screw went in a bit further... Fired it up and had a whining sound... gave it a bit and shut it down. Drained the Primary Oil and noticed the plug had been rubbed...
My question:
What was the plug hitting - the bolts on my Clutch pack bell (?) or the Bell (?) itself... I think you know what I mean by the Bell.
Just want to know what went on in there... I used regular Teflon Tape after that and it didn't go in as far because the floss stuff just didn't go in...

That's the drain plug ok. I had one just like it on my 02 Dyna. No shoulder or o-ring. I tried teflon tape, liquid teflon, and some kind of form a gasket compound, but never did get it completely leak free. I always wondered about tightening it too far, but never heard any sounds like you describe.

It is a drain plug primary and trans are identical on older models.
