Hey guys I have been getting a more than a few emails about this narrowed fender lately. I spoke to my friend Larry Jordon. I am going to take my fender off my Street Glide and Larry is going to fab up a jig to make fenders as they are wanted. Cost will be $400 and it would be primered when he was done. Fenders would have to be supplied by the guys that want them modified. Some guys want the 09' SERG look, some just want the 09' SG look on their 08' and earlier bikes.
When I place my fender back on, I'll photo and measure the bolt sizes, where the chrome frame covers and bag support brackets have to be trimmed to clear the wider fender.
I'll let anyone that is interested know when the jig is made. PM or email me if your interested.
Richard

DuraGlide...your bike looks cool! Is that a fender cover?? I get a lot of comp's on my lights.....they look perfect for running...when the brakes are applied that's when they are really bright!
Max, sent you a pm ....incase others want to know the answers...... I dont know anything about the SE fender from a 07 08 SE RG . I believe the fender is still a 7" wide fender...if thats the case I firmly believe a 180 wont fit in it. The 09SERG fender is 9" or for that matter all of the FLH fenders are 9" wide. I used one of each. My 08 SG has a 09 FLHX fender that we welded up the holes to look like a SERG fender....plus narrowed it between the frame rails only at 8". The 180 has about 3/16 of space on the right side of the fender to tire. I did keep my IDS and used a 5 1/2" wheel with custom spacers that my BIL made at his shop. My Dunlop is just over 7" wide....if memory serves me its 7 3/16 on a 5 1/2" wheel.
The other FLH we did on a forum members bike here, we used a 09 SERG fender....only because there was no waiting for it now vs when I did mine it was like 8 weeks backorder. If you search my name you should be able to find more about "Scott's " bike. His did have a 07 swing arm and NO IDS, with again the same rear wheel as mine.
Hello Timberland great build im also doing the same build just wanted to know if you had to do anything with the mouting holes for the fender and also did you cut where the belt goes. I have a 06 Rk that im building to be a flhx thanks
I dug this old thread looking to see how hard it would be to place a 180 rear tire on my '08 street glide. I am still unsure about the swingarm that is being used?
Are you using the stock '08 swingarm?
I read where a '07/'08 SE swingarm will work but a local builder says the '09 FLH swingarm is a bolt on as well??? Just need the spacers and rear axle also.
I don't know about the 09 swingarm fitting, I would have my doubts, Has your local guy actually done this or just heard or thinks it will fit? If you've read the whole thread I'm pretty sure it says he used the stock 08 swingarm, if not it was in another thread about the same project, yes it is the stock swingarm, I've followed the build & it was stated somewhere.
