Y'all think this wheel would fit on the back with the old axle?
You have more than simply the size of the tire to consider before you go dumping money into a tire purchase:

Measure the width of your frame at the smallest area that the tire will occupy. This measurement will tell you how wide a tire you can use.
Make this measurement with the old wheel and rear chain installed.
Any new wide tire is going to have to miss the rear chain.
You will find that the chain alone will go a long way towards restricting you on tire width.

Next consideration is your rim size. How wide is your present rim? How wide a tire will it take?

I am betting that putting a very wide tire such as the one you are looking at on Ebay may mean you need a different rim so that this tire fits. We assume at this point that the tire does not hit the chain.

Once you get a tire that will fit within your frame space and have a rim that is suitable for the new wide tire, the next step is to fit the tire to the rear section of the bike.

You do this by setting the rim in a position over the rear hub so the rim (and tire) is centered under the rear fender.

You cannot center a tire under the rear fender by inserting washers or spacers on one side or other of the axle. The rear chain is positioned by the location of the front sprocket....which is fixed in place.

The chain runs straight back and this fixes the sprocket and rear wheel in a fixed location too.

So, you get the tire and rim centered under the rear fender by loosening the spokes on one side of the wheel and tightening the spokes on the other side of the wheel.
This is the only way a wheel may be centered. Period!

So now you have 2 wheels to build. The front 21 inch and a rear wheel with new wide tire and probably a new rim as well.

As for the Ebay tire....... I feel I need to comment on that.
$130 is a lot of money for a used tire. 1500 miles and barely used? Well, from the single pic of it the tire looks like it has been run many more miles than that, to me anyway. What are those dark black spots on the right? Cuts?

Last week I bought a brand new Dunlop for the rear of my Dyna and paid $136 for it. It had no miles on it.
Anyway, just my 2˘ again.........

Can you post a pic of the forward control parts? Is your bike a 1975 or 1976, or what year?
