I wrote to the CEO on Oct 15th & Susie from customer service left me a message on Oct. 22nd. I had gone to the dealer at 6500 miles & they agreed the tire was cupped, they checked the pressures, found them to be right at spec. but proceeded to tell me the usual line about the tires being a wear item & that 6500 miles is too high & HD will never authorize replacement , blah , blah blah, Its incredible that since 97 I have purchased 5 Ultras & my dealer (moroneys) in New Windsor,NY doesn't even consider replacing the tire as a thank you for my loyalty. I put all that in the original letter. But lets see what the letter says that they're mailing out. I would love to go back to Moroneys & say "OH, I thought you said thay would never replace them!" But I don't want to assume that the MO CO will step up to the plate, I'll just hope.
i'm one of those that called cust. serv. and complained about the "vibration". was given a claim number but haven't gone to the dealer yet. would like to wait til something new comes out. saw a thread on here the other day about a new tire called the "american" or "american eagle" or something supposedly coming out after jan 1. would love to get elite 3's for this bike....
I have over 10,000 miles on my 09 Ultra and have no signs of cupping on the front or rear tires. They are the 407 tires. I keep the air pressure at factory specs. Do not know why some cup and some don't. May be riding style??????
I don't ride mine like it is a sport bike although it feels like one the way it handles. No problems with it at all.

+1 I have a little over 11,000 miles on mine and knock on wood no issues very good tire ware so far. I did post on another thread about Dunlop coming out with a new tire for the 09's and 10's that where better then the E3's, he said he could not tell me anymore about it but they will be out the first of the year. Ride safe

With the claim number I got over the phone, my dealer replaced mine at no charge. They also installed these, which make getting to the valve for pressure checks and adjustment a lot easier.
My front 407 was cupped pretty badly but I rode it anyway and got 19,480 miles out of it before changing it when the rear tire came due at that mileage - so just replaced both tires at same time.
So far almost 6k on the D408 front and no signs of cupping at all - it's wearing perfectly.
I'll report back at the miles pile up and let you all know how the D408 is wearing...
I got mine replaced about 6 weeks ago. It had about 9K on it and was almost unrideable. Two different people at the Moco claimed to have no knowledge of the issue. After I would not take no for an answer, they gave me a reference number, but denied warranty replacement when I brought it into the dealer. I complained to the dealer, who ended up giving me a slight discount, $150 for a new tire.
I wonder what, if anything, they plan to do for those of us who've already paid for replacements?
No matter what H-D does try dyna beads in your tire. I have never had that problem again since I started using them. dynabeads.com If that isn't right .com you can Yahoo it.
Wow these must be some amazing beads! Hope the MOCO don't send me some instead of a letter.
NEWB here.....
I just got my 09 RKC end of June, haven't had a bike in almost 12 years.
I have had tire issues of different sorts in the past but I have to admit that I do not know for sure what "cupping" refers to.
So, will someone enlighten me a little. I apologize for my ignorance and don't flame me too bad...ok?
I got 4K on it and the wear does seem more than I would have expected but I have never run this exact type of tire before.
