Default 2010 FLHTCUSE5 Frame Recall?

Hey,

I just bought a 2010 SEUC and went in to the dealer for my 1K service, plus Monster Ovals, RT, and H-D Heavy Breather. Well what do you know--they couldn't change the trans fluid because the factory welded the cross-member in the wrong location! Now, they say I need a frame swap from the factory . . . are you kidding me??

Anybody else had this happen or know about it? Holy crap.

It's just the MoCo way of making sure you can't do your own service

I had a Nov 1st ship date on my CUSE5 but Harley called the dealer and delayed that to Dec 1st. Maybe this is related?

Good one. You had me going. Just looked under mine. I see 2 drain plugs that are easy to reach. If not i have a hole saw to use before a frame change. I did notice the cross member is made out of 1/16 metal and doesn’t look like it will support a center stand. My 08 had some meat in the cross member and threads already there for the center stand. Just brought mine home sat. And have 200 miles on it now. Was going to put d&d boss fat cats and race tuner on this weekend.

Are you going to keep riding it until the new frame shows up?
Can you take a picture of the frame brace?
There must be a number of these braces welded in the wrong place. I doubt if it only happened to yours.
I wonder if they use robotics to weld the frame together or does a worker do it using an assembly weld jig?
I spent my life working as a tool and die and a jig builder. We always made sure to fool (idiot) proof our jigs, to make sure they could only be loaded with parts one way.
I wonder if this would have happened if they still had a dedicated CVO line or did they still have the CVO line in place when yours was built.

I can ride the bike until 5k service--no problem.

But I had the dealership check back with the factory and told them that I didn't want my bike dismantled because a bracket was 2 inches off. The factory does not want to cut a hole or weld a different cross bar. So I told the dealership that the factory should send me a new bike. Someone should be calling me soon from H-D.

Default Wtf

What do you expect when MOCO shuts down the Custome Vehicle Assembly Line and as of 2010 the CVO's are assembled on their 75 person standard assembly line. My 09 SEUC was assembled by 4 specialists not the 75 that now assembles the CVO. They need to reduce the price and change the name. CVO's are no longer CUSTOM! I picked this up from a post earlier in the year from one of the CVO team that was being disbanded to save money.
