Well - this may sound harsh but frankly as a brand new rider . . . I just hear too many horror stories that involve new riders. Load up on the insurance. Not to tempt fate or anything after 36 years of riding (first 3 in the dirt, next 33 on the street) - heaven knows it can happen to any one of us I carry a 1M life policy - for instance.
