Talking 1000 mile oil change observations

Ok I just changed all of my fluids engine oil changed at 250 and now at 1000 1st change standard 20-50 Castrol 2nd amsoil 20-50 synthetic, all good primary oil was very thin replaced with 20-50 amsoil, trans was thinner yet ran out like water very disturbing, put in 75-90 gear oil amsoil also. when I ptrchased from the dealer they tried to get me to come in for them to change oil, I asked if i did it muself if it would void warrenty theu said no and as i was talking to the mechanic and told hime i tsed to be a mechanic and did not trust just anyone with working on my vehicles, he got to talking and he does not use the syn 3 himself I thought that was very funny he uses amsoil for the motor and royal purple gear oil for the trans. After seeing how thin the trans oil was I will be useing something thicker myself maybee just old school, I'll see how it runs out friday.

I use Mobil 1 75W90 in the tranny, Mobil 1 15W50 in the motor, and Pennzoil 10W40 in the primary. Bike has never run so good.

Whatever you put in the primary be sure it has no friction modifiers or EP, extreme pressure, additives. Most auto oil do have these things. Motorcycle oil does not. That way they can charge more for less.
Its a clutch thing.

I use Amsoil ATF. All you need is a suitable oil good for the clutch and for cooling.

This is the thing I ever use in the primary, and it costs all of about $2.75 a quart.

If you want to spend more money, fine, but it's not necessary.

For those that feel better about using a gear oil in the tranny as opposed to a motor oil, Amsoil 20W-50 motorcyle oil also "protects gears and chains and meets SAE 90 API GL-1 gear oil requirements."

This information is provided on the label on the back of the bottle. I've been using it in all three holes for a couple of years on my 2007 SG. No problems whatsoever. Having to buy only one product for all three lubrication applications simplifies things for me.

Btw, I don't sell the stuff, I just use it.

So after reading all this I still dont know what too put in my transmission.....Im currently switching from royal purple to AMS OILS. Ive always ran 75-90 in the trans....It kinda caught me off guard when there site said 20 - 50w.....so what should I run 20-50w or 75-90/140?? Personal Preference?

Why not trye the Redlines superior products. I use 20-50 in the engine, which is a hot 106 inch high compression twin cam engine. and in the gearbox i use light weigt shock proof, and about the tranny i use only mineral oil 10-40 to avoid clutch slipping. By the way i have install 20 % stronger clutch spring. i have checked everything and all is fine, no metal on the oil plugs so far.
But i am considering to swap to ATF in the tranny.
Sorry, I meen the primary, my misstake I´m from the cold north country of Sweden

I'm confused here. If you run 10w-40 in the tranny to avoid clutch slipping, then you must have a Sportster or maybe a V-Rod (I know/care nothing about the V-Rod), but then you say it's a 106" engine. While I've seen some 100 inch Sporties, and even a 118 incher many years ago, they are few. If you have a Big Twin engine, the clutch isn't in the tranny; it's in the primary, which is separate from the tranny.
