Default NON motorcycle GPS on a motorcycle

I'm looking to get a gps for my streetglide and was wanting to know if anyone has used one of the regular ones (tom tom, garmin, etc) on their bike, instead of the ones marketed for bikes. I know HD has a good one, but its pretty pricey, especially when i can pick one up at best buy for about a 1/4 of the price.

anyone?

I use a cheap Sony GPS on my bike. No issues. Cannot hear the voice announciations but the screen is visable and gives me all of the turn info well in advance of the changes. Don't get it wet though.

Been using my Garmin 760 for the past couple of years without a problem, even in light rain. If it starts pouring I just put a sandwich baggie and a couple of rubber bands over it.

I use a Garmin nuvi 200 with a RAM mount. Doesn't vibrate much because I have it mounted close to the center of the bars. And I don't use it all of the time on the bike so not really that worried about it. In case of rain I throw zip lock bag over it.

I use a Garmin 10X it is in my PDA Windows mobile PPC, my bike has the rubber mounts for the bars not the newer urithane and it does not vibrate at all, like Commander112 said can't hear the voice prompts but can see every thing on the screen, I am getting a Magellan streetmate I think it is called for Christmas, picked it up the other day at Cosco but wife hid it from me, anyway it has a large screen that will make it nice.
Like others have said if it rains I just put a sandwich bag on it. I made the mount out of a bicicle reflector mount, they are nylon and fit the bars perfectly, I just riveted a holster mount to it and it works great, cost me a grand total of $3.00.

I ride an Electra Glide Standard and installed a Garmin Nuvi 200 on a ball mount installed on an aluminum plate mounted in the left hand speaker grill. I have less vibration and as said before I can't hear it but can see the screen with no problem.

I use my Garmin 760 all the time. The biggest problem that you will face is the rain, mine sits behind the windscreen and that provides it a level of protection. If it starts to spinkle, I just unclip it and place it in the windscreen bag...

CLINT55 - I noticed that you are attaching your garmin directly to the 1" ball without a clamp bracket or the safety cradle.

Do you worry that your current setup will not hold?
