I think if you have your manual and a friend over you would be fine.

Default Build info.

GO BIG__ONCE!! Then enjoy the ride. You won't be disappointed. The guys on this forum know the combos that work together and that is one of the most important issues when considering a build.

Default 103 for less

Just got back from my dealer (Rochester HD, MN). The service guy has done a lot of builds. Gave me a price to go the the 103 by boring stock cylinders, new cast pistons, manual CRs, mill heads .020-.030, SE 255 cams and gasket kit, Torrington bearings, tweak HD map, reuse push rods. Without tax, $1150-$1200 installed. Have asked them to see if they have a used set of SE 255's around which could save another $100. (going with the standard KIT price would have run around $1850)

He knows what I'm looking for, low-mid range tq, decent MPG, smoot running and I have high confidence in him. Not looking for a hot-rod, but should see around 15 gain in both tq and hp. Going to take the bike in November, then get ansy as I will have to wait until the snow leaves MN to ride :-(

Current: 07 Ultra, SE A/C, old SE slip ons, SERT, 33K miles. This will be my first performance upgrade other than the basic stage one. Getting very excited.

Sounds like a good price for the build. I'm awfully tempted to see if the Lakeville, MN I got mine from will do something similar over the winter. Especially as that doesn't void the warranty...
If it weren't for Warranty concerns I'd be all for bumping up to 107

talk to them and see what type of deal you can work out with the dealer.
if you get some one who knows what they r doing and make sure everything is set up correctly u will end up with a solid build.
ask themto cc the heads
make sure they are even
make sure piston are at zero deck . they are not below the top of the cylinder when piston is at tdc.
ccp is also correct .
also make sure they custom map or tune the bike
you can get a solid runner if they pay attention to details and not just slap it together

Default 107 Build

Here is my suggestion for the money, build the 107, have the heads ported, nothing crazy $400 max, use an Andrews 54 cam, a 0.30 thick head gasket, and your done.
What goes wrong with so many other builds is you don't factor all the extra cost in for push rods, lifters, gear drives etc.
The above build will net you between 105-110 HP and 115-120 TQ.
This will be a fun bike to drive with torque where you drive it.
A D&D exhaust is one of the best bangs for the buck.

Look up Revolution Cycle Performance on the net. They put this kit together for $1100.
Add a Thundermax ECU with auto tune and your done for reasonable money.

i would have to say stay away from rev cylinders. my self and others have been biten by the bad cylinders before. Scoty from hillside bores the stockm cylinders out to 107 specs and uses a weisco piston.

Hi,

I just purchased a 96" and I'm looking at upgrades already. Other threads have given me cause for concern. That the crank might not be able to handle 120/120. Is this true?

My 2002 had the 95 kit in it and it was making 110/110. Never had a problem and I dogged that motor to death. Surely this engine can handle the same.

Help me out, who makes these 107 and 113 up grades? I don't see them in the Harley book.

I want a build, this time, that from a 5-10 mph rolling start, I can go full throttle and break the back tire loose. Is tbs possible and keep it somewhat reliable? How much motor/tq we talking to do this? 2010 SG.

Thanks
