Default Windshield cleaning technique. What's yours?

It seems everyone has their own idea about the perfect way to clean their windshield. The dichotomy is between too much scrubbing will scratch it, and not enough cleaning will leave streaks and bug guts behind.

Myself, I spray on a healthy coating of windex, let it soak for a minute or so to dissolve all the goo, then spray on a bit more, because most of it will have run off, then I dab it dry with a clean rag to get the chunks and mud off. Then next step, I apply a second coat of windex and clean it normally to get the streaks off.

My buddies technique is to remove the windshield, drape a hot wet towel over it for a few minutes and let it soak, then clean it with windex.

I though it would be interesting to see how others deal with this very serious dichotomy.

I go as fast as my Fatbob can so that the bugs just peel off and hit the road glide behind me.

I have a few buddies with slow crotch rockets. I make them clean my windshield.

Dichotomy, almost sounds like something a urologist would study!

I used to use windex, pledge, waxes, etc., now I'm hooked on hydrogen peroxide to melt the bugs and Novus polish to shine her up. I hit a bird and it "smudged" some scratches in the shield. Used Novus scratch remover and got most of it out, now after several polishings it continues to get better all the time, I expect a few more polishings those scratches left will be gone as well.

I throw a wet towel over it and leave it on while I wash the rest of the bike. Bugs come right off.

I do similar to what you do except when it is clean I spray pledge on it and the bugs don't seem to stick as bad. Also if I get caught in rain the rain runs off.

I use the clear windex, not the blue or green one. I lay a microfiber towel over the windshield and soak it with the windex. Then after letting it sit for a while I clean the windshield only using up and down strokes. I learned a long time ago from Lexan racing windows if you use a circular motion on a plastic piece of glazing it'll scratch circles into it which then act like a "polarizing" filter in the windshield when it gets wet, oily, or bright sunshine hits it, and then you can't see well through it. I finish it off with a clean microfiber towel that I just spray some windex on and again only using up and down strokes finish cleaning the windscreen.
