Stop whining about the prices!I must pay 7300 euros from my -99 1200C sportster! It´s 10871.12 $!!!!And here in Finland ONE litre of gasoline is about 1.30e,it´s 1.94$.So ONE gallon is 7.332$.So don´t mention prices anymore or I get MAD!!! just kidding but i hope you now understand that to you it´s not so expensive.
I found this on CL. '05 XL1200C 270miles. SE2 slip ons and air filter, custom paint. and had an EZ clutch installed. $6K. Gal bought it and got sick and didn't ride it. Neighbor would ride it around the block a few times every other month for her. If you don't get in a hurry and have cash in hand (good deals go quick) you'll score. Good luck
Those are really good deals but I've already searched my area on Craigslist and haven't found anything NEARLY as cheap. If I could get an 07' or 08' for under $7,000, I might have a chance of getting one because that's about my limit since I could easily get a 09' or 10' Yamaha for under $7,000.
I bought a 2007 Sportster XL1200C with 4k miles on it for $6000 at the beginning of this month.
A sporty cost not that bad. Got to have fuel injection ? Not !! I have a 1999 883 custom plenty of power and the good old way of delivering fuel.Rubber mounts ? I don't get it , you're wanting a harley buy a harley the fuel injection doesn't sound like a old school bike , they idle faster taking the whole persona away from the bike.
Custom exaust will always show a o2 sensor. The looks of the new ones aren't as good as the older ones. Mine has about 30.000 miles on it with no trouble , you can pimp out the older bikes and look way cooler no ofence to newer modle owners.
Cost you can find a nice bike with low miles for around 4500 , if you choose to do engine work, done right , it's like a speeding bullet that you can't catch.I haven't worked mine up yet but my friend has a sporty that would max out the speedo at 130 he really doesn't know how fast it is.
Just a thought

Just keep your eyes open.
I'be been looking at a 07 Sporty XL1200C with 3,500 miles.....the dealer is asking $8400. It's got a back rest and V&H pipes. To me, $6500-7000 would be the tops. I'm going to the showroom in a few weeks to maybe see the lowest they'll go.
I "knew" my bike was a Street Bob but with the economy, our house payments and kid....we need all the cash possible. A $6500 bike would make a tiny dent in the monthly budget. A $14,000 bike would be a be double. Not smart right now.....but in a year, maybe it's possible.
AND it's got my top color choice! But don't tell the dealer.
