Default Help with HD heated gear

I searched around but couldn't find what I was looking for. I got the HD heated jacket liner and gloves. Anyone who has this setup, did you need to get the y-splitter to get both pieces heated? I tried just connecting the cord marked gloves into the cord marked accessory, but I am only getting heat to the jacket. I checked to make sure the gloves work by connecting them directly to the power source. What is the proper way of connecting both gloves and jacket together? Thanks.

There should be connectors for the gloves in the sleeves of the jacket.

Yea, there are. But I get no heat when I connect them to the sleeves. Inside the jacket I have three connections, one for power, the other marked gloves and the third marked accessories.

Default gerbing

I bought the Gerbing jacket & gloves AND the controller. Inside the jacket on left side is an outlet with 3 terminals. For reference, I am looking at the jacket laying on a table with the inside of the jacket open so the connection ports are on the right, and the outermost port has a white plastic insert.

I only use the two outer most ports. If I had removed the controller connections, the basic jacket has two which extend out and one recessed. The white one is for the jacket if I remember correctly and the middle one for the gloves. The third port is for the pants and is recessed so would take a male connector.

So since you don't have the controller, you may need to plug in to the one on the right for the jacket and the one in the middle to power the gloves.

I have the same set up but I also have the pants liner. Do you have a single or duel controller? if you have a single controller or just the on/off switch you will need the "Y" to connect to both the main and gloves connectors in the jacket liner. The accessory connector connects to the pants liner.

If you don't have the duel controller I would highly recomend getting one. With the duel controller you connect to your power outlet then you have 2 wires that will connect to the jacket liner and gloves. So you can control the temps for each. Once you have the jacket connected up you can connect your gloves to the connectors on the sleeves and the pants liner to the accessory connector.

Alright, I was able to get both the gloves and the jacket working without the y-splitter. I plugged the main jacket power cord into the accessory plug and the glove cord directly to the power and I got both heated!

Directly from Gerbing's site.

Gerbing's Power Distribution Unit (PDU) both simplifies plug connection and eliminates any dangling cords. The PDU is a soft rubberized plastic component sewn mounted onto the inside lining of the heated garment, in this example, a heated jacket liner. The PDU houses the main power plug that distributes power to the GHC High Density Heat panels strategically placed throughout the garment.

The first plug coming out of the Jacket PDU is the power cord, which connects to your On/Off switch or Temp Controller. The On/Off switch or Temp Controller then connects to your power source.

The third port for this Jacket PDU is for accessories. This port will power your pants or insoles. If you are wearing Gerbing's pants without a jacket, then connect the pants cord directly to a Gerbing's on/off switch or Temp controller.

The middle plug of the Jacket PDU will power your gloves separately from your jacket. The gloves connect to the plugs at the jacket sleeves. Or, if the gloves are worn without a jacket, connect to the provided connecting harness.

For a Vest Liner, the plug coming out of the PDU is for connecting to power. The other two plugs are for connecting to heated pants and/or a 3 prong-harness for connecting to heated insoles or gloves.

This is the link to the Gerbing setup for temp controller..

I highly recommend getting the dual controller. Unless it's really really cold, below freezing, this gear will bake you if on full blast all the time. The dual controller will allow you to adjust the level of heat in the jacket and gloves individually. You can get it just right. Other wise you are going to be constantly turning it on and off.
