Default Honest opinions on a V-Rod for frequent 2 up?

I sold my 08 Road King after 2 years (pretty much as planned). I still have my beloved Wide Glide in Florida (left it there for the summer) and used the RK, got used to it, nice machine... But I missed the WG big time, thats when I knew for sure I want something different for Jersey... In Florida I stay more local so 2 up on it doesn't matter much... Spend 3 minutes and switch out the seat out to a fluffier one when shes goin and we're both happy. Here in Jersey the rides are a lot longer, the Road King was the ticket for the 2 up. But I really want something lighter I think for the 75% of the time I ride it alone.... My fear is I will want to be in it all the time and get myself killed. The WG is fun to ride slow, makes a racket, turns heads, I'm happy... I will ride it for the 6months in Florida and what ever I buy next will live in Jersey.. . I sat on a Muscle in Daytona and thought this could be the answer... BTW, I weigh 225, she weighs about 160 (she better never read this).

I really don't like the V-Rod - any of them - for 2-up, without some pretty serious changes. Seat, rear footpeg relocation if possible, but really the feel of it is what sent me from an 06 VRSCA to an 07 FLHRS. I kinda liked it for solo, but I like my 08 FXDC WAY more for two-up. How about a Heritage or something like that?

Or you could REALLY get something different and take a look at the new Triumph cruiser, the Thunderbird. It's very cool, handles well, is a lot quicker stock than a stock HD and well as a second bike I think it would rock!

The V-Rod is a great bike. Although it's faster than the others in the lineup, it is certainly no crotch rocket. You will definitely enjoy the bike although you will probably have to make some adjustments for comfortable 2-up riding.

I rode one a few months ago and still think about that ride!

This forum has very low volume for the V-Rods. Check out 1130cc.com and you will get tons of info.

Well, I've owned two Sportsters, a Lowrider, a Fatboy, and a Heritage. I've rode from one side of the country to the other....more miles than you can count. Although the bigger v twins are more comfortable for long trips, the Vrod is the superior bike as far as performance. It won't be long before HD puts the revolution motor in a touring bike just for the fact that its faster, more dependable, more reliable, and will conform to emissions with the water cooled setup. I'm not saying the Vtwin is a bad thing......I've ridden them for thousands of miles but just like Ford has replaced the 460, 351, and 300 inline 6.....Harley must do the same. Willie G and the corporate guys at HD have invested TONS of money and time into the Revolution for a reason. They have to look to the future as all manufacturers do.
