Default 1st Pull Over by a LEO on a bike

After riding bikes since 1985 I had my 1st pull over today by a local city cop.

The temp hit a big 53 and and I thought time for a ride. Started out heading north to WI to visit a buddy's Garagemahall for a brew. The LEO and I pass each other going different directions and I see him wave me to slow down. I look in the mirrors and I see the lights go on. Knowing that they are not big fans of people who do not follow directions I pull over on a side street and wait for him to catch up. When he pulls up I am off the bike and the bike is off. He gets along side me and says "I usually don't pull over Harley's but you were doing 51 in a 35".
This is a country road very easy to have your speed creep up. I said sorry I guess I was not paying attention. He responds "I understand I have a Soft Tail, let me see your license so you can get out of here" He hands it back and and says no problem, slow down hopefully we get an Indian summer.

I say thank you sir and head off a little slower.

Being polite to a LEO never hurts. You can mutter about it when they leaves.

Mutter about what? Doing 16 over is almost a guaranteed ticket, especially in this day and age when cities are just looking for easy extra revenue, and that was an easy one.

If that was my area, it would have been a ticket.

Thank you was an appropriate reply!

A lot of the cops around here ride. I more often get knowing nods or smiles than anything else (and my bike is loud). Got pulled a couple weeks ago for "right on red." Cop reminded me about the light, said a few nice words about my bike, and went on his way. I respect them and support them. At least three times my life has arguably been saved by LEO's. That's one more than the number of times they've arrested me, so I guess I'm doin' ok.
