I already had this problem, it is more than likely the Fuel Check Valve Assembly,,, had mine fixed last week. Harley said they go out on the 07 and older bikes.. It was supposed to be corrected in the 08 and newer ones....

Default IAC Step Motor

Let's see the last time I posted I had an appointment with Chesapeake Harley. They were going to check for a software update. What they did is just unspeakable. The had some dillweed hook up to my bike with the digital tech. and he wiped out my Stage 1 program and over wrote it with the stock program. Then they had the ***** to say that the dealer who put it in never did it...BULL CRAP! I had checked my engine diagnostic code numbers the week or two before and wrote down the p/n that I got off of that and looked it up (STAGE 1 DOWNLOAD) The guy tried to tell me that that number was the ECM part number. They wanted me to buy a race tuner and have my bike dyno'd. They wouldn't put the stage 1 back in, bike ran like **** on the way home. I went to my independent Mechanic, he d/loaded one of his caned maps into it. Bike ran better, but we left for a trip to Deals Gap a couple of day's later and it acted up big time with the stalling and idleing down. When I got home I bought the IAC and replaced it, No problems since. If I would have followed my gut instict to start with I would have saved myself $300.00!!! Needless to say, Chesapeake HD will never get any of my bussiness again.

[quote=04ultra;5505057]I was able to replace my IAC without lifting the tank or the throttle body. It is a tight fit, but with the right small tools it can be removed and replaced with all other parts still on the bike.
The screws thru the top of the IAC that mount it to the throttle body have a torx head and hex head. Using a torx bit with a small ratcheting driver, I removed them and replaced the IAC.

On the older bikes probably up to an 05 the screws are easy to get to, being placed left and right of the iac while looking straigt at it. On my bike wich is an 06 it only had torx screws (no hex heads on them), and looking straight on at it from the side they were in front of it and in back of it. The screw in back was very hard to get to because of the engine alignment apparatus. I do suggest loosening the front gas tank bolts and removing the back one and lifting the tank up from the back for added room.
I also had to make my own little tool to help in removing the back screw.
