Default Detachable fairing on RK question???

Has anyone on here bought one of the eBay Road King detachable fairings? I'm considering buying one, but wanted to ask about the quality before I buy. I'm not interested in paying $1500+ for a Quadzilla and really would rather pick out my own stereo equipment. I think I like the 6x9 speaker option over the quad 5" speakers. Please let me know your opinions on what you got. If you remember the seller, that would help me a lot too.

Thanks,

JJ

I'm going to be putting a Bat Wing fairing on my RKC one of these days. I will eventually have lowers and a tour pack.

Exactly the kind of info I was looking for! Thanks a ton! I wonder why your write-up didn't show up in my search???? Unfortunately, the guy that sold you yours doesn't have any for sale right now.

Anyone else have a good or bad experience?

Agnes.

Funny you should ask. My fairing came in today. The seller has good contact even after you have paid. I didn't see the fairing was coming from China until after I won the auction (bidding on multiple fairings). My fairing arrived exactly 1 week after I used pay pal. I am going to put it on and ride tomorrow and then I can give a better review. My only issue at first was I didn't like the way the 2 halves come together, but after looking at wideopencustom.com (my other option) they come together the same way. I won my auction for less than $300

Cool! I'll be waiting to see how it goes. What kinds of issues do you see with the two halves going together? I'm also interested to see how it works out with your apes. I have 16" wild1s on my bike. How tall are yours? Did your fairing come in primer? Oh, and lastly, do you think your fairing will accept other manufacturers' windshields?

Thanks!

My fairing did come in primer. Yes I am going to ride it unpainted and don't care how silly I look. LOL My apes are Wild1 12.5. I think (and hope) it will except other windshields. Like I said I ask this one seller a ton of questions and realized that I won a different auction. The 2 halves don't fit flush. Hold on and I will take a picture.

That's it, put a piece of crap plastic fairing from China on a $20,000 bike! That's what a good friend of mine told me when I bought one. Been there and done that. Save your money and learn from my mistake! In the end I bought a Dead Center Fairing with no regrets. Made in the USA by people who care after the sale....

Do you remember which brand or seller made you unhappy? Unfortunately, I don't have the money for a Dead Center, Dragonfly, or Quadzilla. I am looking for an economical alternative (not a piece of crap plastic fairing) and I'm not afraid of doing a little work myself if necessary. Quality is important to me and is the entire reason for this thread.
