9.6-9.8 is absolutely fine, especially with that ignition, tuned correctly, as it will only roll about 1/2 a turn and it'll light.

Well I ordered up the Keith Black 9.5-1 hyp pistons for the upgrade and compression releases . Surely much better than the 8.5-1 and milling the head . Now if i can just get it back together correctly we'll be cool .

Well changed it up again . My machinist says KB pistons no good . So know back to Wiseco . Has to be 10.0:1 . Should I do the compression releases now to be safe ?

i agree,we dont use KB either,compresion releases are alot easier to put in with the heads off the first time,instead of finding you do need them and pulling it apart again.im sure your guy knows whats happening,but if he machines the heads for the releases,use only an 1/8 hole thru the head,machine the threaded hole only deep enough to let the release open +.050,then if the release itself fell apart,the pieces wont fall into combustion chamber,get good american made releases too,we use goodson

Good point , ordered some jims , we'll see . I appreciate your input . Glad it went this way anyhow ,more power is allways better . Cold in Indiana is it ?

You can cut a slight amount off of those Wiseco pistons to bring the compression down half of a point.
