Yesterday the President visited New Orleans AGAIN....there has been almost NO political figures/various superstars intervening on behalf of Galveston Island/Bolivar Peninsula. These folks pulled themselves up pretty much by themselves. Last year the rally came hot on the heals of Ike so the Island was badly compromised. The area lives and dies primarily on tourism.
Much to their credit the residents and businesses in the area have overcome an enormous loss and have all but completely recovered. In the meantime, New Orleans lies and waits for outside help for four years and Galveston has had one year.
Go to the rally...show your appreciation and support. It is not a sinking sandbar it is a tough area in recovery. Your support, presence and dollars is the lifeblood for these good hardworking Americans...they are not begging but rather presenting a great rally site for you. The rally is becoming, if it has not already become, the largest event the island hosts.
Make your reservations ASAP, there is also a lot of rooms nearby in Webster, League City..a 30 minute ride. Restaurants are plentiful on the Island already and lots more within 30 minutes. Vendors will all come back, and be added to, as the rally continues to grow.
Weather during October/November is some of the finest for Gulf Coast riding. Feel free to PM me with requests for riding, eating, sleeping suggestions. I live on the shore of Clear Lake which is off Galveston Bay...I know what these folks have risen against...help them out and you will be very glad you came too.

I think New Orleans is waiting on another goverment check. Maybe Obama will give them one mo'. People from Galvestion has put there boots on and worked for what they have. I wll be spending my money Halloween weekend in Galveston...
Just peeked at weather.com and highs will be mid-fifties, little chance of rain and mostly sunny. No promises...but usually pretty decent time of the year
A group of us from Louisiana and Mississippi will be there to show you Texans how to party coonass style. Lol. Looking forward to the rally and should be there Thursday.

Getting close, this will give the folks a boost for sure. Went last year after Ike and it was pretty messed up. This is going to be the come back rally, get ready for a good time.
