You may have a cracked case. They can crack on the pinion side at the rear tranny mount boss. There's a thin area on that side and if the corner is machined square, rather than radiused, they tend to crack there... if they're going to.
I ride a 90, doesn't leak yet, would the torque arm prevent this or is it just in the machining? I was just about to scratch this post when I saw it was started in April until I looked at the last post date.

That's NOT a common problem, but the cases on some years were cast so very thin there, compared to the sprocket (left) side case. And some were machined deep and to a square corner under there. Certainly not something I'd ever worry about unless it leaked and even then, it'd have to drip regularly before I'd pull an engine for that.

Thanks for the feedback, been laid off for a couple months earlier this year, wasn't lookin to dole out money for this sort of thing.
Mine leaks really bad, so it seems. if riding the bike the oil gets all over the engine and tranny from the updraft. when i stop it looks like a hole is in the bottom of the egine. i clean it and just start the engine and let it idle on the lift. after a few minutes i can see oil run out of the area that t150evj pictured. I will bust the case this winter and see what i find. thanks t150evj for your assistance.
I have a 90 Evo with a BDL open drive. The oil leak started - changed seal and sealed magneto screws - still had leak; it got worse.
Rode it for an hour - parked it - removed the belt drive - removed the timing hole plug - sprayed some soapy water around the crank case bearing housing - wrapped a rag around the air nozzle and shot a short blast of air in the timing hole - sure enough the bearing housing was blowing bubbles!
Ordered a pair of Ultima Cases for $710.00 and fixed it. No leaks and runs like a striped *** ape!

It will certainly help as it eliminates flexing between tranny and motor.
nice work Mike. I have often wondered about those ultima cases. We have at least one resident expert in da forum who is confident in their products and when i say expert i mean it for sure and pay careful attention to his posts.
