Default Mileage for the last three tank fulls has been insane!

The benefit is more likely important on the scooter boards I read, but the news was shocking to me.
I averaged the last three tanks of gas in the 09 XL1200C, and it came out to an astonishing 57 mpg!
I saved the receipts. I was carefull to gauge the "Full Line" as equally as I could for all three fill-ups.
I know I am not an agressive rider, but I take off well ahead of all 4 wheel traffic and stay ahead for most all of my rides (except when I see an as***le that wants to play with me, then I am in the right lane and slowing down); that said 57 mpg! That is what the "Scooter Guys" brag about. The Sportster is an amazing bike. looks, speed, handling, and now "Confirmed High MPG"

My new Iron clocked 55 MPG first two tanks. Now she is undergoing 1250 conversion so MPG will tank...My XL1200 gets mid 30's due to Power Commander, same for my Road King with Thundermax.

We (USA) are now on the non-summer blend of gasoline. YMMV - and will likely improve.

jeez, i would be surprised to ever get 40!!

i am usually seing about 30-35... but then i dont really ride for improved fuel economy-
prob cause i drive it like i stole it !
that and the pipes, air sucker and fuel management (set to run really rich) kinda make it that way-

Gas mileage depends on engine components, state of tune, where you ride, and your riding style.

My 2005 1200C averages right at 50 MPG, and that is with the Screamin' Eagle "E" cams which flow much more air/fuel mixture than your standard cams.

But I do live in a very rural area, no stop and go city traffic, and I very seldom do any full throttle runs....

For comparison purposes under the same conditions my Softail FatBoy (with windshield, Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner, and dyno tune) averages about 48 MPG.

My Dyna WideGlide (with Mikuni flatslide carb, K&N high flow intake, and Screamin' Eagle 204 cams) averages right at the same 48 MPG.

Even my EFI RoadKing get close to 45 MPG.

Of course, if you do a lot of city riding, pretent you are on a race bike and do a lot of full throttle runs, or have a bike that isn't running the correct a/f mixture your mileage will vary.

Default I'm sure it is a bit lean if they come that way...

I'm sure it is a bit lean if they come that way; but two up she gets about 45 mpg.
Due for oil change and service soon I will ask the service tech how the plugs look to him.
Bike hasn't seen the high side of 75 mph much; I just happen to like "Tooling" around at about 45mph looking at everything and smiling to myself...
