Default New fork bracket for 09 FLHP and FLHTP

Harley has developed a fork bracket that permits a smaller turning radius which may be required for use by some law enforcement agencies. Harley is offering this fork bracket as a no-cost upgrade to those law enforcement agencies which may require the smaller turning radius. This is covered under service bulletin M-1248. They are being provided in recall kit pn#'s however the fork bracket pn# will be 45435-10 (which subsequently does not show as valid yet).

Dawg, you ROCK!! This is my biggest beef with this new bike compared to my old bike. The turning radius blows. The obvious question is, can a civilian get it? Mine IS a cop bike, so it might be easier to pull that off if for some reason that was an issue. Do you happen to have any details? Either way, thanks SO much for that post!! That info is awesome!!

My dealer called me and told me about this. It sounds good. Are there any drawbacks/negatives to this upgrade that anyone is aware of? Are they offering it for bikes that are not being used for duty/patrol?

DO IT!! It's a free upgrade to police bikes only whether they are in service or not. I just had mine done about a week ago. It's not a HUGE difference, but a noticeable one non the less. The MoCo will NOT do it for civilian bikes. You can buy the kit (I'll have to for my other bikes) and add it, the bikes are the same.

For a brief period I thought I had fairly good chance to get my other bikes done. When I arranged to have my police bike done, I inquired about getting the others done. The Service Manager said Harley won't do it, but what he will do is supply the fork brackets if I pay for the labor. I reluctantly agreed due to the cost ($500). Fast forward to me taking my police bike in for the upgrade. As I'm leaving, the Service Manager tells me the Harley rep was just in and found out what was being offered to me and "allegedly" said it's not going to happen and if the customer wants anything, they will have to pay for it. So, this Service Manager goes back on his deal. I'm not happy at all. Especially considering the reason I have to go back up there is because of a few screw-ups on their part. We're talking two bikes having to travel over 500 miles round trip, the least they could do is eat the cost and honor the deal he made. I'm going to let them know how much that move just cost them when I go up this weekend.
So, I just decided to invest in a Lift so I can do the job myself AND do other stuff we would otherwise drive there for.

Back to your immediate concern, if you like to make tighter turns with your bike, you'd be wise to have it done. It's a free improvement, no reason not to. Best of luck!

ps, I called Harley "customer service" which was the biggest waste of time. Could this be my last Harley? Could be.
