Default 2009 Ultra Classic Battery

Could somebody give me a quick instruction on how to get to the battery on my 09 Ultra Classic. Want to put a battery tender on it, and was wondering what needs to be removed to get to it.

Start by removing the seat, then you will see pretty clearly.

My 08 Ultra has a battery tender connection coming out near the right side cover (when sitting on bike). Your 09 Ultra doesn't have this?

Actually, it is behind the passenger footboard mount, tucked behind it. Came stock on my Ultra.

That's where mine was located.

hmmmm.. Well I don't see a connection under either cover or behind either passanger floorboard.. I guess I will have to take off the seat and see if I am over looking a connection somewhere, or maybe I just need to add on.
Thanks for the tips.

Pull the seat. Take the ECM off it plastic perch and disconnect the other plug on the tray. If you have security, slide the antenna off the tray. Take off the tray with a T40. (possibly a T45 but I've had a few too many cold ones at the moment). That will give you access to both the positive and negative terminals to attach the battery tender.

Removing the cover and getting it out of the way is a problem. What should have taken 10 minutes took me about an hour. If I do it again, I'll put a splitter like this on: http://www.powerletproducts.com/prod...-fuseblock/409

Open the Tour Pack and leave it open
Open the left side saddle bag and leave it open.
Get a Philips screw driver and remove the bolt holding the rear seat to the rear fender.
Remove the bolt holding the left side of the grab strap and lay the strap over to the right side of the bike.
Lift the seat up while moving it back and set it aside.
The ECM sits on a tray with a snap holder in front and rear so spread them as you lift out the unit and lay it to the right side.
Remove the two bolts that hold the tray down. They are at the rear of the tray.
Remove the tray. This may take cutting some tie wraps to the wiring harness to make enough play to move them aside as you lift the tray.
Access to the battery accomplished.

Now check and see if there is a tender connection in place already at the locations others have stated.

Oh! and do this first to save the above steps.

If you didn't read through this post first before starting, you now know how to get to your battery if needed. Close up by doing the procedure in reverse.

If it has it already built in, just look for a small ,male/female plastic/rubber connector. If it doent have this, its a simple build to fabricate a harness which will allow you to renove the battery (which i did)b and keep the battery on tricle from a nice warm basement. After you have the connevtor connected, just plug the tender into a wall socket and you're good to go!
