Very interesting, thanks. Does this problem only apply to the 2007 touring bikes? I noticed that the torque specs for 2008 and 2009 also need to be changed. I think I'll check my '08 anyway.

When I changed my Inner Primary I changed the starter bolts and torqued them to the higher spec.

You know as much as we pay for a new bike
looks like they would mail stuff to you.....but noooooo. Can't spend $20 or so on a few service bulletins per bike.

Ya gotta be careful when torqueing the bolts that go into the casting. You can crack em if ya torque it to hard. Also, you can crack a casting when torqueing a bolt into a blind hole (not drilled all the way through to daylight) if there is grease on the bolt or crud in the hole.

Interesting......The starter fell off my 07 Ultra this last summer while on Vacation (what a mess).
The front bolt was gone and the rear one was almost out. Fixed in the parking lot at the motel in Santa Rosa Ca.

I am surprised that the dealer don't check to see what bulletins are outstanding when you take your bike in for service. Our do down here because they make extra money off the warranty work. I do most of my own work but do go in once in a while for a oil change just for that reason.
