I thought it would be a pretty easy swap just wanted to confirm it with someone who had done it. I'm glad I can reuse the factory oil hoses.

Default 255's

The 255 cams are not that aggressive and again should have been stock on the Harley if not for the EPA. I had already been told they would not help with the heat and topping out over those hills may not be much better. Bottom end would be good and they would not hurt the top end but not to expect much on the top end power.

I am hoping eliminating the cat will not produce that much of a drivability problem and keeping it stock until I remove it so I can see what is going on with the cat removed. The 4 wire heated, electrically self heating should not react that much to taking the heat off them because they don't need the exhaust heat to function as the old 19mm's do. I hate to confuse the issue with pipes and high volume AC right now. I want to see how the ECM reacts by just removing the cat and go from there.

I hear the new SEPST is replacing the SERT mostly because of it being more user friendly. I would like to stay away from the PC V, when and if they ever get it right for the 2010's because of Harley's policy of voiding a warranty with one of them on there. I was told as long as I used the SEST, or SERT I would still be under the umbrella.

I pulled the plugs on the 2010 Tri and the ceramic is redish brown, shows to be close on a good AFR mix. Someone said they thought they richened up the AFR because the cat would allow them to. Removing the Cat should not even require a tune but we will have to gut it to find out. I'm willing to risk it because there are plenty of ways out there to bring it back in if I get it out of kilter. The AFR may explain that Cat being so hot also, all that fuel burning in that cat could be contributing to that dull red glow after dark.

The 255 is a EPA friendly cam that comes on good at the bottom but is all used up after 4,000 RPM. I've looked at some dyno sheets of guys running 103" and 255 cams and have to say its not all bad. They should do exactly what I want power wise. They should move the Trike along from a stop well and pull good going up hills. Normaly I'm in the 2,500 - and up RPM range so I should be in the meat of the powe band for this cam. I don't use 6th gear unless I'm running at least 75 mph. The SEST did replace the SERT, I've got both. I use the SERT on my 06 Ultra and the SEST on the Trike. The SEST seems like a pretty simple program to run around in. Idealy I would have liked to have gone with the TTS but the warranty issue is what changed my mind. When I had the guy from the Moco tell me I could use the SEST and not have any warranty issues unless it could be proven that it cause it I decided to take the easy way even though I feel the TTS is a much better product. I haven't pulled the plugs on mine yet. Just by looking at the Stage 1 map that came with the SEST and the head temps I shot I don't see where its richer.

I won't have any solid changes until this winter when I do the cams and see what I'm going to do about the head pipe. In the spring I'll hit the ground running and work on doing data runs on the road and getting the bugger tuned. Going to be fun because it looks like I'll get to do it times 2 because my dad is leaning towards 255 cams and a SEST so I'll have his to tune also.

Anybody try the new Power Commeander the PC5? My tuner swears by them and says it will put his dyno out of business.

Can't figure it out? I pulled the plugs after some owners had some stripped some spark plugs to put some anti seeze on them and now they are chalk white. I had been just doing short trips and had around 500 on the trike when they were reddish brown. Now with around 1200 and after about an hour ride they are more of a chalky white. The Trike actually runs better and acts like it is about broke in. The o2 sensor's was also had chalky white tips. The trike has always run decent except for being underpowered, mostly top end. Same gas, same octane and no mods to muffler or air filter yet.

Still have not done anything about the Cat yet and waiting on some info for the the best Map/Tune and hoping to get some more riding in before I tear into it!

Most that I've seen have been happy with theirs. Your tuner shouldn't fret about the PCV putting him out of business. Just putting a PCV on doesn't quite complete things. You have to consider there are tweaks such as timing to be made. If you bolt it on a leave it as is your just settling for 50% of the results that you can achieve.

The color you had earlier must have been from an additive in some of the gas you were getting, chalk white is what I would expect. Yesterday I road mine and my dads trike to the dealer so they could pull the back plugs and put the anti-seize on that should have been on their. I was surprised when I got off my trike and got on my dads and twisted the throttle like I was still riding mine, dang his steps out and goes much better. There isn't a doubt in my mind he could kick my a$$ in a dragrace. Anyway my hats off to the owner and service mgr at the dealer. They found a couple things that needed improvement and their making the changes. When you ditch the cat your going to have to tune it, its not going to be good enough to just have a stage 1 download.
