Default Price of Used Sportsters

Hi everyone. I'm a little depressed because I found out used Sportsters weren't as cheap as I thought they were, as well as Dyna Super Glides. I really want a Harley, especially a Super Glide, but would gladly "take" (can't think of a non- de-valuing term) a Sportster 1200L. I have come to the realization that I may not be able to afford any Harley and might have to reluctantly turn to another brand. I will avoid this as much as I can and for as long as I can though lol.

So anyway, I was hoping to get some opinions on what 2007 Sportsters would cost. I really don't want to go older than 2007 because I'm pretty sure they became fuel injected in 2007. I guess I could go down to 2006 or even 2005, even though I'm sure there's been TONS of updates since then. I know the motors started being rubber mounted in 2004 so I definitely wouldn't go older than 2005 because that's gettin pretty old and I could go buy a 2009 Yamaha V Star 650C for $6,000.

So let me have it. I'll try not to cry lol.

Bare in mind, I do not need ANY extras. I'm perfectly happy with a stock Sportster 1200L. Saddle bags and a windshield are huge plusses, but the Harley name means the most.

check out craigslist in your area...
prob can get an '07 for $7kish-
got mine off of craigslist- took me about 6 months of lurking and waiting just to find the right bike. also got my wife's bike off craigslist- from my experience my only tip is not to buy a bike with a loan on it. bikes without loans are a whole lot easier to deal with, imo.

btw, are you sure you need a 1200L? the sporty is a pretty low bike and you can get it lower by changing the seat if you have to.

just checked my local craigslist and i see an '07 883 for $4,500- seems a bit lower than i expected... but maybe my $7k guess should be more like $5k to $7k

Those are really good deals but I've already searched my area on Craigslist and haven't found anything NEARLY as cheap. If I could get an 07' or 08' for under $7,000, I might have a chance of getting one because that's about my limit since I could easily get a 09' or 10' Yamaha for under $7,000.

Hey Blackhawk, I have a 2006L for sale for $6900. It has less than 5,000 miles and is in perfect condition with a quick disconnect windshield, forward controls, and a mustang seat with driver backrest,(comes with stock seat as well). Will sell for $6700 with stock seat only. I am located in southwest Michigan. The color of the bike is two tone black with an orange pin stripe. It also has factory alarm system.

Every time I hear someone say they can get a Jap bike cheaper they are usually comparing a smaller bike to the Harley. Make sure your comparing apples to apples when shopping price against the Yamahas. In an earlier post you were even comparing the Sportster against a 2009 Yamaha V Star 650C for $6,000. Compare an 883 or 1200 and to a Yamaha of the same size and the price difference is nil.

The Yamaha 650 is no where close to what would com[are to the 1200L. You will regret it every time you get on it. Highway speed has the 650 wound up in 4th gear, and 18 wheelers will blow you all over the road. Get yourself a good used sporty and enjoy. I see two very ghood deals on the table right now.

The two deals on the table right now, are better than good. Given the scratch and opportunity I would jump on either of them.
