I think the purpose of the bike chart is so if you buy your bike in december, you don't have to take it out in the middle of december and get it inspected...
Notice May-October all get inspected on the month they are registered. There are no bike inspections due during the six other months, what some would consider non riding season.

The short answer is yes, they are good for a year. IF you get them inspected at the right time.
I tried to explain this before, and I don't think anyone believed me.
There is a chart for cars and one for motorcycles. They are different. The
Inspection periods for motorcycles are governed by Pennsylvania law. Motorcycle inspection expirations are based on the expiration of the vehicle’s registration and can be found in the chart below:

There is a different chart for cars and trucks. And a third chart for semi annual inspections. It depends on if the place that inspects your bike reads the right chart.. If you want to read the whole thing here is the whole page

If you read that you will see that cars no longer necessarily have matching registrations and inspections, anymore, either.
If you, meaning the OP, wait till next year to get your bike inspected, say in March, and the place does it right, guess what, it will expire again in September 2010... So you can run illegal every winter, or you can just go get the bike inspected now and then every September after that.
Frenchbikers bike falls under the chart, too.
Mine are totally wrong. I think the place I took them didn't know what they were doing.
Harley reg is March 2010 inspection is due this month Oct. 2009
Yamhaha reg is March 2010 inspection is due June 2010

Basically, if the registration of your bike starts between November and April (off riding season in PA) the inspection is delayed 6 months. I suspect the reason is that you won't take your motorcycle for an inspection in winter when the roads are covered with snow.
It goes:
November registration = May inspection
December registration = June inspection
January ------------- = July ----------
February ------------ = Aug ----------
March --------------- = Sep ----------
April ----------------- = Oct ----------
then for all other months, registration and inspection fall the same month. For all scenarios, the validity of the inspection is 12 months, except if you missed the inspection date or didn't inspect your bike the year before. In this case, the State penalizes you and gives your a sticker expiring in 6 months instead of 12.

yeah, I just added that, you must been typing same time as me.
I just wish stickers weren't all screwed up. And thanks to this thread, I also realized that I lost my current Harley reg. and have been carrying the expired one. :-o
I try to keep all my stuff legal, can't really afford fines and tickets.

Upon passing a safety inspection most passenger cars and light trucks will receive an inspection sticker valid for one year from the month of inspection or one year from the expiration of the current inspection sticker on the vehicle. Since 2005, Pennsylvania no longer requires that the inspection sticker expiration and vehicle registration expiration coincide for annually inspected vehicles. The state only issues bike stickers for months March-Oct, so everyone has one of thos months. Get it inspected in March and you're good for a year.
