Exclamation Leaking Rocker Cover Gasket: covered under warranty..??

Noticed a little oil on my bike this past month, little dribbles at first, now it is visibly dripping from the between the rocker cover and the top of the engine on my front cyinder down the front of the frame, onto wires, ect.

My question is...

Is a leaking gasket covered under warranty..??

Will i have any problem getting the dealership to replace the gaskets since i bought it at another dealership in Houston and am wanting to get it fixed here a coupla hours away in Victoria where i live..??

(i can take pics if the way i'm describing the leak isn't clear or correct)

Have no worries my texas brother, its covered under warranty if your bike is less than 2 years old. Any HD dealer can do it. What dealer in houston did you buy it from?

Republic H-D in Staffard... a little to far to run for warranty work.

My warranty is good till August 2010, i believe.

Did they do BOTH or just the leaking one...?

You'd think they'd replace both while they had it in there, seems like it's a common problem.

Faulty gaskets..???

Default rocker covers...

I just had both of mine replaced last night - not under warranty...
Front was done a month ago and started leaking again same spot and rear started leaking...
Friend told me to go with teflon gaskets...
Dealership said they only carry HD issued gaskets so I asked could I bring my own they said yes...I'm talking bottom (main gasket only)...
Went to local parts store he said better than teflon and gave me set of what they called old style gaskets - metal sandwiched between to layers of rubber - $6 a piece...
Dealership did both charged me zero standing behind their work form a month ago...hopefully no more leaks or it's new rocker cover time...

Headed into town to fill out a job ap with the the city, gonna stop by the dealership on the way back to see about dropping the bike off.

Hopefully, i can drop it off this afternoon since my Father's 2010 Street Bob is going to be ready today as well. Can make one trip, drop off one bike and pick up another.
I think i may just have them do the 5k Mile Service while i have it in the shop and it's still under warranty... don't wanna do anything to void it if i'm gonna have a possible recurring gasket issue.

I'll update this thread as the issue progresses...

I think this is one that dealers expect to do for pretty much every Sporty.

Mine didn't even skip a beat when I brought it in two days before my warranty expired.

The front was barely leaking; the rear lots. I pointed out the rear first and the service manager didn't even look at the front. He just wrote it up for both.
