They won't be able to fix it. Just spent $400 on my bike to have the oil leaks fixed. I think it is their seals, they don't. I'm now looking for a better source of oil seals for my bikes.

I'm in the process of reinstalling my tranny,,, the only seal that was leaking was the shifter pawl shaft seal,,, one thing I noticed of all the seals this one is the only single lip seal,,,, all the others were/are double lipped,,,, I'm going to add an o-ring in between the flat washer and the shifter pawl shaft seal, thickness just enough to put a little tension against the seal and help keep out dirt. You cannot protect the seal from the splines going through it because of the shifter pawl guide tube so it's possible to damage this seal on installation even with grease,,, one rule of thumb never slide a shaft through a seal without lubrication and check for sharp edges, burrs etc. on anything that goes through the seal.

Did this same dealer do the prior work to this bike prior to you buying the bike? Loose bolts/screws etc, stator about to fall out?,, (never heard of that before) is very, very poor workmanship turned out by a certified HD mechanic or any mechanic as far as that goes,,, the inner primary requires the use of a silicone sealant on the fasteners plus the o-ring seal, if these were loose it would have to be completely redone, there is locking tabs for these bolts as well.

Are you able to actually see the leak you're having now since everything was tightened up? Really It sounds to me like this is going to have to be taken back apart inner primary and all and then redone with new seals, gaskets and a competent mechanic.

Don't know about that. Mine is done, and leak free. I did notice some differences in the new seals versus the old; maybe better designed?

My bud was laughing his azz off because when I stopped at the oil change place to get rid of the old fluids and asked them for 4 of the paper floor mats they put in your car to spread out under the bike....

Not sure what dealer worked on this bike prior to me owning it. If it leaks again on the primary after I pick it up this time not sure what I am going to do. If I start switching dealers to try and get it fixed then they all can blame each other for problems.

The leak is coming from Primay Seal on the rear part of the motor around the 2nd or 3rd bolt from the back. Glad I bought the 1 year HD warranty with the bike. Never going to pass that up on a used HD.

Just wondering if there's a possibility the cover is sprung from improper torquing or whatever.

The wife had a porous casting on a previous Buell , all the mechanic wanted to do was to keep putting on new gaskets, something to think about.

I get a few drops off my shifter shaft during a ride.( 2 gasket changes by me and 1 by the dealer)

I've found that over time it gets further down the list of things that pizz me off in life.
After this year its probably not even in the top 100.
