The last time a friend and I rode to Daytona it was 16 degrees when we pulled out of my driveway. It didn't get warm enough to take off a piece of clothing until we got to the first rest stop in Ga. OMG, it was the coldest day I have ever spent on the bike. The ride back wasn't as bad, didn't really get too cold until we got almost into VA. Now, you can call me the trailer queen if you want but I am warm and cozy down and back.

The morning me and my bud left for Daytona it was 5 degrees outside. Just loading the bikes and gear into the trailer sucked!

However you decide to get there.......your gonna love it!

I say schedule some extra time and ride down, then schedule some more time to ride them back, who knows you might find out that you actually enjoy riding in cooler weather

Ride, but be prepared to haul. In 07 two of my son's and I were going to ride down from Chicago. We had reservations at the Abate campgrounds in the county fairgrounds.

In the am that we were going to leave a full blizzard came in. Heavy snow and forty mile an hour winds from the east. We loaded two bikes in my 6X12 enclosed trailer along with the camping gear and one bike in the truck bed. We drove into Indiana and took I-65 south. Traffic was at a crawl and there was no visiblity. This lasted well into Kentucky.

I drove straight through. The next day we found the campgrounds and set up.
The next three day were miserable. Rain and cold. One morning it was in the twenty's.

There are times that if you want to get there a trailer is the only way.

Trailer down I-77 to Columbia SC, There is a storage place where you can leave the truck and trailer secured behind a fence. (Mobile Attics) and its right off the freeway. Look them up on the net and call for cost. Its reasonable. Ride the rest of the way. Daytona can be made in 8 or 9 hours humping it down the freeway from here or enjoy a scecic back road ride along the coast if you have more time.
