This coming year will be mine and my friends first full season and we are looking to head down to Daytona in Feb...

We are from Long Island,NY

Want to start planning just so we go ...those last minute stories of people backing out lol cant have that...If we ride we could stop meet people and add on to the trip..

Just wanted to get more input ..Thanks

I never trailer mine but then again I don't live up north. NY to FL in Feb? I don't know about that. It gets awfully cold just riding from here to Daytona. We've had bottles of water freeze on the way home in our cup holders.

Just remember, it will be a lot easier to ride them down then to ride them back.

Heading south it will get warmer and your schedule can be stretched if you hit bad weather.

Riding back it will get colder and you may find yourself short on time and in icy weather.

I have couple friends that sometimes come down from "UPSTATE"....they usually trailer the bikes down to Georgia....park the trailer and ride the bikes the four or five hours to daytona.
They rode the bikes once from New York....spent a week on the beach and got their feet sunburned and had to ride back to NY with sunburned feet in their boots.
I would say, if you want to go to Daytona.....get there anyway you can.
Scroll down to the bottom of HD Forum......and post in the "Florida Crew" section.
You might find some friends.

You live there, what's your winter like? If you typically have to shovel snow to get out of your driveway in late February / early March there's your answer.

However, you would be the coolest (no pun intended) HD rider at Daytona if you would slap on a pair of knobbies and ride there! We live in upper Illinois and have always trailed there.

I ride from Mass. It can be a little dicey or it can be an OK ride. Heated gear is your friend. Make sure you can be flexible with your travel plans cause you can get snowed in and have to wait around a day or two.

Tell ya what. Trailer them over to Laurton, Va and put them on the train and the next morning your in Sanford, Fl. Best of both worlds.
