The download won't do anything for the heat issues with these motors, it's still EPA compliant and the dealers hands are tied on that.

Before you go out and do the swap, spray some kroil or other loosening agent on the muffler clamp area if you prefer. I didn't and they come off with a little
coaxing and wiggling side to side up and down.

Some say not to use any sealant, but it's cheap ins, and will assure no leaks. I used permatex ultra copper high temp, and applied a thin Bead to the header and slid the muffler on. Gave it a slight twist to spread it evenly and tightened it up. Any leaks in that area can cause decel popping and also discoloring.

As for your worry about the download, etc. For a little more money you can get a FuelPak or PC and very easily tune your bike for a stage 1, while also richening it up a bit to cool the motor temps.

Good luck and don't hesitate asking, these have been asked by many and that's why this forum is so nice!

Put my new Rush mufflers on today. It was about a four beer job. They look and sound great. I have the 1 3/4" baffels and I think they will be great. Will ride it in the morning. The four beers held me back for today.

Mufflers are very easy to swap. "They" recommend new clamps, but I've used mine on 2 different swaps and they work fine. I also use copper high heat silicone sealer to stop any leaking, which leads to decel pop and possible discoloration at the joint.

Good sounding is all relative, I prefer Vance and Hines and BUB. Quiet baffles with any muffler give a nice low growl at idle but allow bark on accel.

How Ya liking that new Heritage. I myself am giving a slight consideration to jumping back on a Softy. It's a big maybe, but stranger things have happened.

Just the same as above.. I did have to have new clamps as the dealer couldn't get my sealed and they don't use the copper sealant, but I think it would probably work, let it dry and set before starting if U do,

I like the sound of My Rush. 2'' but they won't give U the gain of a 2-1 system.
I was satisfied with having a little less in power just to keep the sound of them..

Rush performance says 1.75" is as large as you should go without an air/fuel tune of some kind. Thats what I put on my 09 fatboy and it runs great without any other changes. In my opinion it sounds great. That is a beautiful bike you bought (best colors in a long time). Good luck, and let us know how you like them.

You can look into the Xieds per my earlier post. This will change the A/F ratio like the HD remap. I was pleased but at some time will most likely go SERT or PCV and a Dyno. Much later actually...

Put about 100 miles on my bike today with the new pipes. I got the 1 3/4" baffles. Couldn't be happier. My friends say it's the best sounding pipes they've heard. They look great. No issues with performance. No popping, dead spots or anything. I'm going to monitor the gas milage for awhile to see if it is changing. If it increases a lot that means I'm running too lean. Don't see that happening though.

that is the size of the hole through the inside of the baffle..
3 yrs ago the 2'' was prob the most sold, and what I have, at 60 I wouldn't want bigger, and they would not have any back pressure... lots of rider now are going wiht 1 3/4'' a little less sound and not a deep. maybe a little more tq, can't say, never seen a dyno on them..
I have stayed with mine since the 1k and now with 24k we still really like them..
The cams this spring really made them even deeper and they hit harder when U crank on it..
