You need about 1/4 inch clearance between your current tyre and the belt guard, to get the wider tyre in. If you don't have that much, take the belt guard off and check clearance from tyre and belt. I modified my belt guard to get a wider tyre in.

These tyre questions get asked repeatedly, so use search to find earlier threads.

I was told a 140 would only fit on my 01FXD but a 150 works fine and could have went with the metz 880 - 160.

The real issue is not if it will fit but what is the actual size of the tire. A 150 dunlop stock tire is actually wider than the 150 880 metzler. Go up to the manufactures websites and check out the actual size and then compare it to what you have on now.

It's weird that one "150" isn't the same as the other "150".

Yea,What He said! Your rim width is important to.A 3" is good for a 150 but if you go to a 160 you should go to a 3.5 or a 4"wider wheel

I have a 160 on my 05 with the stock size wheel, no problems and over 15k on it. Stock was a 150. You should not have any problems.

Metzeler ME 880 Marathon. I am due for one now, actually should have replaced it about 500 miles ago.

George,

(That is a nickname of mine from college days!) you are quite right. The original Dunlop MT tyres on my Glide were 136mm wide up front but only 133mm at the rear! I prefer Avons and their rear 130 is actually 136mm, their 140 is 146mm and their 150 is 157mm wide.

The Metzeler 880 160/70/17 from Brazil is almost 1/4"wider than the same one from Germany!
