Default Slime in tube tires

Now that I went back to a '09 Super Glide, I got spoke wheels and tube tires again. Its like stepping back into the '70s again. :-)

Anyone here use that green "SLIME", for tube tires on a Harley? I'm interested in both good or bad results.

Slime won't work in tubes.

Plus it is crap and will mess up the rims. There is alot better similar products on the market

It works, but when you have to let the air out of the tube for any reason (like replacement) you get green stuff everywhere. If you're not careful, when you top up the tire, you'll get green stuff in the valve stem, which can cause a leak.

Thanks Sore. The above sounds like a better product than "Slime".

After going to "Slime's" web site, http://www.slime.com/category_3_Tire-Sealant.html I read their warning about high speed use. Slime's idea of high speed is speeds above 65 mph. At those "high" speeds, Slime is only recommended for repairs and may actually cause vibration in the front tire.

Thanks again,
Dennis

Two tires only. I will not add anything to my tubes unless it is to get home. Then the crap and tube are coming off to be replaced. Life is too short to make this forum as a tire blew out, biker killed--maimed---or missing.

I know Slime says you can use it for cars, motorcycles, ATV's etc. I haven't ever used it on anything other than bicycle tires, with great results. I would probably carry it for 'emergency / get home' use only on a m/cycle.

It may get you home, but it will make the tube (and tire if tubeless) unpatchable. Plus it will throw it out of balance as with anything like that you put in a tire. I suggest carrying a patch kit and co2 canister to air it up.
